11th PFF International Cat Show (M)

Assalamualaikum!

The 11th PFF International Cat Show (M) was held by The TEAM and Passion Feline Fanciers at Pearl Point Shoppping Mall, Jalan Klang Lama, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on the 25th April 2015. The Cat Show was managed by John Cin and judged by six (6) judges from the United States of America, Australia, and Japan. Cat? The domestic cat is a small, usually furry, domesticated, and carnivorous mammal. They are often called a house cat when kept as an indoor pet, or simply a cat when there is no need to distinguish them from other felids and felines. Different than what i have seen at the cat show, there are many types of cat breeds that are so stunning like you can't hold them on your own.

This is Maine Coon Cat. The Maine Coon is the largest domesticated breed of cat. It has a distinctive physical appearance and valuable hunting skills. It is one of the oldest natural breeds in North America, specifically native to the state of Maine, where it is the official state cat.

Although records don't exist for the Maine Coon's exact origins and date of introduction to the United States, there are multiple competing theories. The breed was popular in cat shows in the late 19th century, but its existence became threatened when long-haired breeds form overseas were introduced in the early 20th century. The Maine Coon has since made a comeback and is now one of the most popular cat breeds in the world.

People may note the Maine Coon's large boon structure, rectangular body shape, and long, flowing coat. The breed's colors vary and it's know for its intelligence and gentle personality. Professionals notice certain health problems in the breed including feline hypertrophy cardiomyopathy and hip dysplasia, but screening methods can help minimize the frequency of these problems. It was my lucky day because I had chance to hold Afza's cat (in the picture).

Cute isn't it? This Ragdoll Cat breed with blue eyes and a distinct colorpoint coat is a large and muscular semi-longhair cat with a soft and silky coat. Developed by American breeder Ann Baker, it is the best know for its docile and placid temperament and affectionate nature. The name "Ragdoll" is derrived from the tendency of individuals from the original breeding stock to go limp and relaxed when picked up.

This was my very first time touching this Sphynx breed of cat. No hair! This Sphynx is a breed of cat developed through selective breeding starting in the 1960s, known for its lack of a coat (fur), though it is not truly hairless. The skin should have the texture of chamois leather (gentle), as it has a fine layer of down. Whiskers may be present, either whole or broken, or may be totally absent. The skin is the color their fur would be, and all the usual cat marking patterns (solid, point, van, tabby, tortie, etc.) may be found on Sphynx skin. Because they have no coat, they lose body heat than coated cats. This makes them warm to be touch as well as heat-seeking.

Barbara Sumner is checking this Turkish Van cat's conditions. The Turkish Van is a semi-long-haired breed of domestic cat, which was developed in the United Kingdom from a selection of cats obtained from various cities of modern Turkey, especially Southeast Turkey. The breed is rare, and is distinguished by the Van pattern (named for the breed), where the colour is restricted to the head and the tail, and the rest of the cat is white; this is due to the expression of the piebald white spotting gene, a type of partial leucism. A Turkish Van may have blue or amber eyes, or be odd-eyed (having one eye of each colour). The breed has been claimed to be descended from the landrace of usually all-white Van cats (Turkish: Van kedisi), mostly found near Lake Van, though one of the two original breeders' own writings indicate clearly that none of the breed's foundation cats came from the Van area.

Then called the Turkish Cat, the breed was first recognised as such by a breeder/fancier organisation, the UK-based Governing Council of the Cat Fancy (GCCF), in 1969. It was later renamed "Turkish Van" to better distinguish it from the Turkish Angora breed. The term "Turkish Vankedisi" is used by some organisations as a name for all-white specimens of the formal Turkish Van breed, nomenclature easily confused with the Van kedisi landrace cats, which are also often all-white.

The Scottish Fold is a breed of cat with a natural dominant-gene mutation that affects cartilage throughout the body, causing the ears to"fold", bending forward and down toward the front of their head, which gives the cat what it is often described as an 'owl-like' appearance. Originally called lop-eared or lops after the lop-eared rabbit, Scottish Fold became the breed's name in 1966. Depending on registries, longhaired Scottish Folds are varyingly known as Highland Fold, Scottish Fold Longhair, Longhair and Coupari.

The Ocicat is an all-domestic breed of cat which resembles a wild cat but has no wild DNA in its gene pool. The breed is unusual in that it is spotted like a wild cat but has the temperament of a domestic animal. It is named for its resemblance to the ocelot. The breed was established from Siamese and Abyssinian stock; later, American Shorthairs (silver tabbies) were added to the mix and gave the breed their silver color, bone structure and distinct markings. This cat owned by one of my friend; Amir. Unfortunately he couldn't make it to be here as he being a judge at another cat show in Penang.

The Persian is a long-haired breed of cat characterized by its round face and short muzzle. In Britain, it is called the Longhair or Persian Longhair. It is also known as the Shiraz or Shirazi, particularly in the Middle East. The first documented ancestors of the Persian were imported into western Europe from Persia around 1620. Recognized by the cat fancy since the late 19th century, it was developed first by the English, and then mainly by American breeders after the Second World War.

The selective breeding carried out by breeders has allowed the development of a wide variety of coat colors, but has also led to the creation of increasingly flat-faced Persians. Favored by fanciers, this head structure can bring with it a number of health problems. As is the case with the Siamese breed, there have been efforts by some breeders to preserve the older type of cat, the traditional breed, having a more pronounced muzzle, which is more popular with the general public. Hereditary polycystic kidney disease is prevalent in the breed, affecting almost half the population in some countries. The placid and unpretentious nature of the Persian confers a propensity for apartment living. It has been the most popular breed in the United States for many years but its popularity has seen a decline in Britain and France.

The Chartreux is a rare breed of domestic cat from France and is recognised by a number of registries around the world. It is not recognised by the GCCF in the UK, ostensibly for being too similar to the British Shorthair, one of whose colours is a similar blue-grey. The Chartreux is large and muscular, with relatively short, fine-boned limbs, and very fast reflexes. They are known for their blue (grey) water-resistant short hair double coats which are often slightly nappy in texture (often showing "breaks" like a sheepskin) and orange- or copper-colored eyes. Chartreux cats are also known for their "smile": due to the structure of their heads and their tapered muzzles, they often appear to be smiling. Chartreux are exceptional hunters and are highly prized by farmers.

As for every French cat with a pedigree, the first letter of the official name of a Chartreux cat encodes the year of its birth.[1] All Chartreux born in the same year have official names beginning with the same letter. The code letters rotate through the alphabet each year, omitting the letters K, Q, W, X, Y, and Z. For example, a Chartreux born in 2011 would have an official name starting with the letter G.
